こんだけね毎日、ちょっと僕も、結果的に毎日投稿になってて。
そんな、さして、なんていうのかな、頑張るっていうことの努力はしてないんですけど。
毎日投稿していて。
しかも。
初めてのPodcast的なものを作っていて。（的じゃなくてそのものだぜ）
じゃあAIでBGMを作れる、っていう学びがあって。
やってみるもんだな、と思いますね。
聞いてくださる皆さんのおかげですよ。
でなんか喋る内容のネタがないから、「リクエストない？」って言ったら。早速、布のおばけさんからね。リクエストいただきまして。
「傘の面白雑学」。
うちというか、僕は傘屋さんで、傘を作ってるんですけど。
中国で作ってるんですけどね。
もう随分ちょっと、中国にはコロナ以降行ってないんですけど。出張でね。
だいたい毎年。年に、トータル日数で言うと20日間ぐらい、中国に行ってましたね。
それも厦門。
アモイっていうところなんですけど。
台湾にほど近いエリアになりますね。
そこで傘屋さんが多いんです。傘工場。
台湾人の方も非常に多いんですけど。
もともとだから台湾で作ってて。中国に工場を移していった、みたいな感じですけど。
んで、もうずいぶん、中国、アモイにも行ってなくてですね。
面白雑学ね。
何が面白いか分からへんけど。
今、「何があるかな」って考えとこうと思ってたくせに、何も考えてなかった。（暴露系）
何か面白いことあるかな。
でも、記事にもちょっと前に書いたんですけど。
傘ってね。
マジで。
9割、人の手で作ってるんですよね。（9割ってどうなの？※個人の感想です）全部。
骨のパーツを組み合わせるのも人だし。
生地を裁断するのも人だし。
生地を縫い合わせるのも人だし。
ほとんど人の手を使ってる。（まぁそれはマジ）
ビニール傘でさえ、かなり人の手を使ってるんですね。
面白いかどうか分かんないですけど。本当にもう。パートのお姉様方は職人レベルなんですよ、みんな。
傘ってみんな工業製品みたいな感じの取り扱いですけど。
そして安物って取り扱いですけど。（最近はそんなことはない）
すげえ、本当はもっと評価されて、値段がついていい代物ですよ。（まぁだんだん良くなってきてはいる気もする）
もともとは日本国内で生産してましたけどね。（もう日本だけじゃ作れませんけどね。。。ロストテクノロジー）
面白雑学ねぇな。面白くねえ。こんなこと言ってても面白くねぇ。。。（俺のオモシロとは。。。）
仕事の話になるとちょっと真面目になっちゃう。
やっぱり。

布のおばけさん、これちょっとまた持ち越しですわ。考えてきますわ。
何か面白い雑学ねぇか。

犬友さんたちとも遭遇ですね。
そして、おやつをいただいて。
僕じゃないですよ。（あたりめぇだろ。誰が朝散歩してる中年男性におやつ渡すねん）
うめがおやつをいただいて。
いいな。
散歩してるだけで、人からおやつがもらえる存在なんですよ、犬って。
大切にしたい、生き物です。
ペット。
ペットっていう言い方があるんですけど。
動物と一緒に暮らすってね、すごくいいと思います。
世の中にはいろいろな人もいますよ。
ペットを捨てちゃうような人でなしもいるし。
お金出して飼ったくせに。すぐ人にあげちゃうとかね。
飼育放棄するとか。そういう人もいたりするらしいんですけど。
そういうのは厳罰に処してほしいんですけど。
それとは別に。
動物と一緒に暮らしてると。この生き物の。
多分猫でもそうだと思うんですけど。
猫はまだ、基本的に各々自由にっていう感覚なのかな。
でも少なくとも、ご飯あげたりとか、トイレを掃除してあげたりとか。
お世話は必ず出てくるわけじゃないですか。
ご飯あげるのももちろんそうだし。
お水を替えてあげるとか。
例えば、友達に猫を飼ってる人たちはいっぱいいるけども。
僕はニャンニャンニャンの2月22日生まれのくせに、猫アレルギーがあるんで、猫を飼えないんですが。
何らかのお世話は必ず必要になってくるんですけど。
それをやることによって、自分の生活のリズムが、どこかしら制御はされるわけで。
それが自分を助けてくれる瞬間ってあるんですよね。
例えば僕もそうっすよね、完全に。
うめがいるから、毎朝、毎晩、散歩に出るわけじゃないですか。
1時間とか歩いたりするわけなんですよ。
僕も平均、万歩計じゃないけど、1日平均7、8千歩は歩いてますからね。
普通に。
毎日ね。
出勤なんて自転車で移動するからさ。
散歩がなかったら歩く距離なんて、本当に知れてるけど。
でも、うめと散歩をする時間が毎日、1～2時間あるもんだから。
それによって、多分健康にもなってるだろうし、生活のリズムも整うし、運動不足も解消されるし。
そして。
僕なんか、モーニング・ウォーキング・トーキング・ブルースができちゃうので。
助けられてますよ。だから。ほんとに。
【周囲に人がいるもんで、ちょっとアレの時間】
ね、まぁそんなところで。
動物と一緒に暮らすってことを。
できない人もいると思うんですよ。
お家の事情とかね。建物。住まいがそもそも、「飼ったらダメだよ」みたいな。
とか。
生活がちょっと一人で大変なんだ、とか。
もちろん金銭的な理由も。
いろんな理由があるから。
そこを無理して飼う必要は全然ないし。
でも余裕があって。
生活に時間的にも金銭的にも。ある程度。
そんなね。
月に何十万円もかかるもんじゃないんで。（何とどんな風に暮らすかによる）
トータル年間で10万もかからないと思いますよ。（※個人の想像です。よく考えたら普通に超えるかも笑）
計算してないけど。
病院代とか入れたとしても。（※個人の想像です）
これぐらいのコストと。
例えば犬だったら散歩いけるぐらいの余裕があるなら。
動物と一緒に暮らす。というのね。
人間と一緒に暮らすより楽ですから。（怖いこと言うてますぅ）
ある意味ね。
気を遣わなくていいんで。
でも、そやって何かのお世話をするという生活を。
何かと一緒に。
他のものに、自分の生活のリズムを合わせる、みたいなことがあると。
自分のリズムだけで生きてると。結構ね。
見えないものが。
見ようとできないんですよ。

So anyway, here we are again, alive and well.
Beautiful weather.
Really nice weather.
It’s gotten quite a bit...
Yeah, quite a bit cooler.
Cool enough that a T-shirt feels just about perfect.
Mmm.
Autumn’s coming.
It really is.
Yesterday, I think we finally got the background music sounding just right.

She’s an older lady from the neighborhood I run into pretty often.
I don’t even know her name.
I was looking through my telescope and then I ran into this old lady. (That did NOT come together the way I wanted it to.)
Apparently she goes for walks in the morning.
Yeah.
I hadn’t actually talked about anything yet, had I?
Just the date and the weather and stuff.
Right.
Oh, yeah.

I feel like it’s really starting to work.
I guess it pays to keep doing something.

Well, not exactly radio.
If I hadn’t started doing this Morning Walking Talking Blues thing...
How do I put this?
I’ve somehow ended up posting every day.
And it’s not like I’m making some massive effort to keep it going.
But I’m posting every day.
And on top of that...
I’m making my first podcast-ish thing. (It’s not podcast-ish. It’s a podcast, dude.)
Then I learned I could make BGM with AI.
So...
I guess you really do learn things just by trying them.
And that’s thanks to all of you listening.
Anyway, because I’m running out of things to talk about, I said, “Anybody got a request?”
And right away, Nuno Obake-san sent me one.
“Interesting umbrella trivia.”
So.
My company—or rather, I’m in the umbrella business.
We make umbrellas.
Well, we make them in China.
I haven’t been to China much since COVID, though.
For business trips, I mean.
Before that, I’d go pretty much every year.
Altogether, maybe around twenty days a year.
Mostly to Xiamen.
It’s an area fairly close to Taiwan.
There are a lot of umbrella manufacturers there.
Umbrella factories.
And quite a lot of Taiwanese people, too.
Originally, a lot of the manufacturing was done in Taiwan, and then factories gradually moved over to China.
Something like that.
Anyway, it’s been a long time since I’ve been to China.
Or Xiamen.
Interesting umbrella trivia...
Hmm.
I don’t even know what counts as interesting.
I was literally thinking, “I should come up with something before I record this,” and then I came up with absolutely nothing. (EXPOSÉ CONTENT.)
Is there anything interesting?
I did write about this in an article a little while ago, but...
Umbrellas, you know.
Seriously.
Like 90 percent of an umbrella is made by human hands. (Is it really 90%? *Personal opinion.)
All of it.
People assemble the rib components.
People cut the fabric.
People sew the fabric panels together.
Almost everything involves human hands. (This part actually is true.)
Even those cheap transparent plastic umbrellas involve a surprising amount of handwork.
I don’t know if that counts as interesting trivia, but seriously.
The women working on the production lines are basically craftspeople.
All of them.
People tend to think of umbrellas as industrial products.
And cheap ones at that. (Though that’s been changing lately.)
But honestly, umbrellas deserve more respect.
And higher prices. (I do feel like things are gradually getting better.)
They used to be manufactured domestically here in Japan, too. (We can’t make them entirely in Japan anymore... Lost technology.)
Interesting umbrella trivia...
I got nothing.
This isn’t interesting at all.
Nothing I’m saying is interesting. (WHAT EVEN IS MY DEFINITION OF “INTERESTING”?)
Whenever I start talking about work, I get serious.
I just do.
I can’t screw around with it. (Nobody told you that you had to.)
Something interesting...

I’ll think about it.
There’s gotta be some interesting umbrella trivia somewhere.
First time I ask people for requests, somebody actually gives me one, and my response is to postpone answering it.

Ran into some dog friends.
And Ume got a treat.
Not me. (OBVIOUSLY. Who the hell gives snacks to a middle-aged man wandering around the neighborhood in the morning?)

Dogs can literally just go for a walk and people give them snacks.
We must protect these creatures.
Pets.
We use the word “pets,” but...
I really think living with an animal is a wonderful thing.
Of course, there are all kinds of people in the world.
There are heartless people who abandon their pets.
People who pay money to get an animal and then immediately give it away.
Or just stop taking care of it.
Apparently people do things like that.
And personally, I think there should be serious penalties for that.
But that’s a separate issue.
When you live with an animal...
This living creature...
I imagine it’s the same with cats.
Cats maybe have more of a “we each do our own thing” kind of relationship.
But even then, you have to feed them.
Clean their litter box.
There’s always some kind of care involved.
Food, obviously.
Changing their water.
I’ve got plenty of friends with cats, for example.
And despite being born on February 22nd—nyan nyan nyan, basically Japan’s “cat day”—I’m allergic to cats.
So I can’t have one.
But anyway.
Some kind of care is always required.
And because you have to do those things, your own daily rhythm gets controlled—or regulated, maybe—by something outside yourself.
And sometimes...
That actually helps you.
I mean, that’s completely true for me.
Because Ume is here, I go for a walk every morning and every evening.
Sometimes I walk for an hour.
On average, I probably do seven or eight thousand steps a day.
Just normally.
Every day.
I commute by bicycle, so without the walks, I really wouldn’t walk much at all.
But because I spend one or two hours a day walking with Ume...
I’m probably healthier because of it.
My daily rhythm stays in shape.
I get exercise.
And...
I even ended up with Morning Walking Talking Blues.
So yeah.
She helps me.
She really does.

Right.
So anyway.
Living with an animal.
Obviously, not everyone can do it.
Maybe it’s your housing situation.
Maybe your building simply says, “No pets.”
Or maybe life is already difficult enough on your own.
There are financial reasons too.
All kinds of reasons.
So there’s absolutely no reason to force yourself to get an animal if you can’t.
But if you do have some room in your life.
Both time-wise and financially.
I mean...
It’s not like they cost hundreds of thousands of yen every month. (Depends what the hell you’re keeping.)
I don’t think it even costs 100,000 yen a year, all things considered. (*Pure speculation.)
I haven’t actually calculated it.
Even including vet bills. (*Still pure speculation.)
If you can handle roughly that kind of cost...
And, if it’s a dog, you have enough time to take it for walks...
Living with an animal.
I recommend it.
It’s easier than living with a human being. (We’re saying some scary things now.)
In a way.
You don’t have to worry about them in quite the same way.
But still, having something to take care of...
Living your life with something else.
Having to adjust the rhythm of your life to another living thing.
Because when you live entirely according to your own rhythm...
There are things, I think...
That you can’t see.
Things you can’t even try to see.
How about that?
